SSP Dehradun holds late night review meeting ahead of Eid, Holi

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

To review security preparations ahead of the Holi and Eid festivals, the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dehradun Pramendra Dobal, who had assumed charge a few days ago in the wake of back to back murders in the city, held a late-night meeting on Tuesday with all district officers and station house officers (SHOs). During the meeting, he directed them to stay alert to maintain peace in the communally sensitive and mixed-population areas during the ongoing month of Ramzan and the upcoming festival of Holi.

Dobal told them categorically that no negligence on the matter of peace would be tolerated, adding that not only SHOs but also circle officers would now be held responsible for any lapse in law and order in their respective areas.

He also directed officers to carry out vigorous verification drives under Operation Crackdown. Police have been asked to verify people from other states living in institutions, industrial areas and rented accommodations in particular. He stressed on intensification of surprise checking at different locations apart from the regular checking exercises.

Further, he laid stress on police visibility being increased during peak hours at busy markets, bustling roads and intersections. Officers have been asked to remain present on the ground during rush hours to monitor the situation themselves.

Dobal also instructed the SHOs to identify habitual criminals and take strict action against them under the stringent Gangster Act. “Special teams will be formed to arrest the bounty-carrying accused,” he stated.
