The Special Task Force (STF) carried out a raid in Roorkee on Saturday under Operation Prahar and recovered 101 illegally stored domestic LPG cylinders. The action was taken in the South Civil Lines area following inputs about black marketing of gas cylinders, officials said.
According to STF officials, there were reports that some people were hoarding domestic gas cylinders due to the shortage of gas and selling them secretly to hotels and dhabas at high prices. Acting on this information, the STF team conducted a raid and recovered a large number of cylinders from one location. Most of the cylinders were found to be of Indra Gas agency.
The cylinders were allegedly stored by a man named Jaiveer, a resident of the area. However, he was not present at the spot during the raid. The STF has started legal action against those involved in the illegal storage. The Food and Civil Supplies department team was also called to the spot and is investigating the matter. After completing legal formalities, all the recovered cylinders were handed over to the department. Police officials said that such action will continue to stop black marketing and illegal activities in the State.
