Garhwal IG warns of strict action against negligence

The Garhwal inspector general of police Rajeev Swaroop wwarned police officials of action if they are found negligent on duty. Chairing a meeting in Dehradun on Saturday to review law and order in the city, the IG gave clear instructions to make the security system stronger and control crime effectively.
Swaroop said that any negligence in crime control will not be tolerated. He warned that strict action will be taken against officers who fail in their duties. He also stressed that police must create fear among criminals and build trust among the public. The IG directed the police to increase patrolling, especially at night, so that people feel safe. He asked officers to stay active during morning and evening hours when people go for walks and when schools open and close. He also told them to keep interacting with the public.
The police were also instructed to carry out regular checking of suspicious persons and vehicles by changing checking points. Special focus was also given to keeping deserted areas under watch through continuous patrolling by mobile units.
The IG also ordered to strengthen the CCTV network across the city and to run large-scale verification drives in all areas. He said no house or locality should be left without verification.
Strict action was ordered against professional criminals, land mafias, and people involved in illegal activities. Swaroop also asked officers to improve traffic management by checking duty points on the ground and removing traffic bottlenecks.
He further directed the police to closely monitor social media and take action against those spreading fake news. He also stressed on upgrading the cyber cell with better technology.
