Temperatures set to rise again in State after brief respite from rain

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

After a brief respite from the soaring May temperatures due to rain, hail and thunderstorms which also damaged various crops, the temperatures are set to rise to normal summer levels. However, the State Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/gusty winds (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar Dehradun, Tehri, Almora and Pithoragarh districts districts on Friday.

Apart from this, very light to light rain/thunderstorms/snowfall (at altitudes of 4,500 metres and above) are likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts of the State while dry weather is likely to prevail in the plain districts today.

While the mountainous regions and plains have been witnessing below normal maximum temperatures in recent days, the maximum temperature is likely to rise gradually by two to four degrees Celsius during the next four to five days in the State, according to the centre.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
