Three arrested for attempting to run over crowd with car in Dehradun, one absconding

Police arrested three men for allegedly attempting to run over a group of 30 to 35 people with a car in Ranipokhri area late on Monday. One accused remains absconding.
The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh informed that on July 27, Rajendra Singh Rawat, a resident of Dandi, Ranipokhri, filed a complaint stating that after an alleged minor dispute, four individuals abused and threatened him and others. The accused then drove an i10 car at high speed towards the gathered crowd, injuring his wife and son, as per the complainant.
The SSP said that based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and started an investigation. The police team reviewed CCTV footage and activated informants. Singh stated that acting on a tip-off, police arrested the three accused, Naveen Kumar, Saurabh Tiwari and Pankaj near Suryadhar Road on August 4.
The police also recovered the car used in the incident and seized it. The police are interrogating the accused. Efforts are ongoing to locate the fourth accused, identified as Sattam, the SSP added.
