Seven sweet samples collected in Vikasnagar to check for adulteration

Ahead of the Holi festival, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) carried out a checking drive in Dehradun district on Saturday. The team collected seven samples of gujiya, mawa, milk cake and kalakand for testing. These samples have been sent to the laboratory for examination.
The drive was conducted on the instructions of FDA commissioner Sachin Kurve and was led by deputy commissioner (Food Safety), Garhwal division, RS Rawat. During the campaign, senior food safety officer Sanjay Tiwari inspected shops in Vikasnagar market. On suspicion, the team collected seven samples of gujiya, mawa, milk cake and kalakand for testing. These samples have been sent to the laboratory for examination. In another action, the FSDA team, along with the police, went to the residence of a person named Sarfaraz in the Mehu Mafi area after receiving information. However, the gate was not opened for about an hour. When it was finally opened, there was confusion at the spot. Taking advantage of the situation, the people inside locked the house and ran away. The team has filed a complaint against Sarfaraz and others at Patelnagar police station. The department said that such checking campaigns will continue across Dehradun district during the festive season.
