Transport dept seizes overloaded bus

As per the instructions of the divisional transport officer Arvind Pandey and under the guidance of assistant divisional transport officer Naveen Singh, a bus was stopped by the transport tax officer Jitendra Singwan on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday at Lalpur and 138 adult and 30 children were found sitting in it, whereas the bus had 30 sleepers and one seat pass. The bus was going from Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh to Ambala, Ludhiana and Jalandhar in Punjab.
Singman said that the vehicle had been seized in Rudrapur after issuing a challan for overloading and operating without permit and without paying taxes and other charges.
Later, the assistant general manager, Transport Corporation, Madhusudan Mishra arranged vehicles to send the passengers to their destinations.
The Transport department appeals to the people not to travel in overloaded buses, while the officers asserted that this campaign against overloading would continue.
