Tributes were paid to Bharat Ratna Govind Ballabh Pant on the occasion of his 138th birth anniversary here on Wednesday. While recalling the great leader’s contribution, he said that as the first CM of Uttar Pradesh and Home Minister of the country, Pant had played a pivotal role in the creation of modern India. “His vision and thoughts will continue to inspire us to serve the people and the nation,” he added.
Further, the State Agriculture and Farmers Welfare minister, Ganesh Joshi paid floral tribute to the legendary freedom fighter and leader at a commemorative programme held in Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Describing Pant as a visionary leader who had left deep marks on several fields like education, agriculture, and rural development, he said that he exemplified the commitment to national interests.
After paying floral tributes to Pant, GBPUAT vice- chancellor, Manmohan Singh Chauhan said that this university reflects his nation- building vision. He appealed to the university fraternity to tread the path shown by Pant and take it to greater heights.
Thereafter, messages of the President of India, Prime Minister, Governor and chief minister were read out by the deans of various colleges of the university.
