Two persons died when the car they were travelling in fell down the mountainside in Gangolihat area of Pithoragarh district on Tuesday.
According to the district disaster management officer Mahendra Mehra, a Maruti Swift car was being driven from Pokhri to Boyal at about 1 PM when the driver lost control of the vehicle which fell into a 300 metres deep ravine.
Police and medical teams along with locals reached the site from where the two persons in the car were extricated. One of the persons had died on the spot while the second seriously injured person died during treatment. The two have been identified as Shivnath (70) and Sher Singh (42), both residents of the district.
