Uttarakhand Gramin Bank (UGB) marked Harela on Thursday by organising plantation drives and environmental conservation programmes across the State, planting over 600 saplings as part of its green initiative.

UGB chairman Hari Har Patnaik participated in the Harela programme at Ramnagar in Nainital district, where he led the plantation drive. He urged officers and employees to plant more trees and ensure the protection and regular maintenance of the saplings to strengthen environmental conservation efforts.

The bank’s regional office in Dehradun also organised a plantation programme in which more than 200 officers and employees participated. Officials claimed that over 180 saplings were planted and participants also pledged to increase green cover and help create a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.

They said that it regularly undertakes environmental conservation and public welfare initiatives under its corporate social responsibility and will continue such programmes to promote a greener and more sustainable future.
