The Bharatiya Janata Party has said that during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Dehradun programme, students should also question the recruitment scam and other issues which took place during the Congress’ term in office. BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said, “Wasn’t it the Congress which turned Uttarakhand into the epicentre of paper leaks? Under whose government was loot carried out in the recruitment of Daroga, Patwari, BDO, SIIDCUL Ayurved and technical university? Rahul never heard the noise of malpractices in exams under Congress governments. The BJP government resolved the din of malpractices and scams affecting the future of the State’s youth,” he said.
Regarding Gandhi’s planned visit to Dehradun, Bhatt said that before coming here to misguide the youth with lies, the Congress should acknowledge that it had turned Uttarakhand into the epicentre of recruitment scams. Bhatt referred to recruitment scams under the ND Tiwari government between 2002 and 2007, and the controversial VPDO recruitment exam under the Harish Rawat government of 2016 in addition to the SIIDCUL recruitment scam, and scams in recruitments to the technical university and Ayurved university.
“After the BJP came to power, the UKSSSC recruitment scam was exposed during the tenure of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the government did not conceal it. Dhami brought about the nation’s strictest anti-copying law to prevent a repeat of such scams. As a result, more than 100 accused were arrested and the recruitment process was made completely transparent due to corrective measures taken by the government. Due to these efforts, more than 34,000 youth secured government jobs through a transparent and fair process,” the BJP State president said.
Bhatt said that Uttarakhand’s youth remember and will not fall for hollow speeches but go by the record of work executed on ground.
