To mark silver jubilee of Uttarakhand’s statehood,  the Health department conducted a special vaccination campaign in Uttarkashi district. The main objective of this campaign, run under the National Health Mission (NHM), was to eradicate measles-rubella (MR) and raise awareness about maternal and child health, said the chief medical officer, Dr B S Rawat. “The measles-rubella vaccine was administered to children aged 9 to 12 months and 16 to 24 months. The vaccination was conducted simultaneously at all block medical units in the district. Pregnant women were also vaccinated and given a complete health checkup,” he added.

At Naugaon, a team of health workers administered the first and second doses of the MR vaccine to a total of 14 children.
CMO said that this campaign is a concrete step toward the State government’s goal of completely eliminating measles-rubella infection by 2026. He said, “Vaccination is like a protective shield for children’s health and every family should adopt it,” he remarked.
