Terming the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha as a black day for democracy in the country, the leaders of Uttarakhand Congress have said that every worker of the party is now ready for the fight to save democracy in the country.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that Rahul Gandhi has rightly said that democracy is in peril in the country. He said that the voice of the Congress party cannot be stifled by the tyrant. Mahara said that the Congress party would go to the masses and would overthrow the Modi government in the elections of 2024.

The leader of opposition (LoP) in the State Assembly Yashpal Arya said that the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha is akin to murder of democracy. He said that the sentence on Rahul Gandhi was suspended and he has a right to appeal. He said that the whole episode has made it clear that whosoever raises the issues of the general public and exposes the deeds of the Union government would be harassed by technical issues. Arya said that from the last few years Rahul Gandhi was raising a solo voice against corruption of the Union government. He added that the country would not have democracy if the political people would be stopped from speaking in public rallies, parliament or assemblies.
