Taking note of the problems of its employees and pensioners, the State government has decided to disburse the salary and pensions for the month of March 2026 on April 1 itself.
In a letter directed to all head of departments, district magistrates and treasury officers of the State, the Finance secretary Dilip Jawalkar said on Wednesday that the salary of all the employees, teachers and pensioners of the State government should be immediately drawn from the designated heads displayed in the literature of Budget 2026-27.
Jawalkar said that the employees and the pensioners will not have to wait for their March salary this time.
It is worth mentioning here that the employees of the State government and pensioners had to wait for a period of 15 to 20 days to get their salaries and pensions for the month of March. The salary of March month payable in April usually gets delayed due to the formalities associated with financial year closing. The departments had to close their accounts for the financial year and open a new account for the new financial year. In this process seeking approval for the salary and pensions gets delayed. Taking note of the issue, the Uttarakhand government decided to disburse the salary and pension on the first day of April. The decision will benefit lakhs of State government employees, teachers, university staff and the pensioners.
