MDDA cracks down on illegal construction in Rishikesh

The Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has sealed and demolished illegal plotting in different areas of Rishikesh on Thursday to stop unauthorised development and ensure planned growth in the city.
In the Pashulok area of Rishikesh, MDDA sealed a multi-storey building that was being constructed without an approved map. The building was located in Gali No 10, Nirmal Bagh, Block-B.
The officials said the construction was being carried out in violation of building rules.
The authority also demolished illegal plotting on about five Bighas of land in Kherikala, Shyampur.
The team removed illegally built roads and plot markings at the site. Similarly, in Raiwala area, MDDA took action against illegal plotting on nearly six Bighas of land. The developed plots were demolished and the people involved were warned not to repeat such activities.
The MDDA vice- chairman, Banshidhar Tiwari said that illegal construction and unauthorised plotting would not be tolerated. He advised people not to invest in any property without checking legal approval from the authority. The secretary, MDDA, Mohan Singh Barnia said that such drives would continue in future and strict legal action would be taken against the rule-violators.
