Uttarakhand govt directs all departments to purchase House of Himalayas products

The Uttarakhand government has announced that all departments and offices will now use products from the House of Himalayas brand for meetings, events and functions. The House of Himalayas is a brand that showcases products made by Uttarakhand’s women self-help groups, farmers, farmer producer organisations and rural entrepreneurs.
The brand was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its products are available on e-commerce platforms. The secretary Radhika Jha stated that the House of Himalayas, under the Department of Rural Development, has quickly gained recognition for its quality. In line with this, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi issued an order on Wednesday to all departmental and office heads stating that House of Himalayas products should be prioritised for purchase in official meetings, events and ceremonies, especially during major festivals like Holi and Deepawali. This initiative is expected to give a significant boost to the rural economy, as per Jha.
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also said that the brand is inspired by the PM’s vocal for local campaign and the State government is committed to promoting this brand. The brand’s quality products are also available as gift packs for occasions like Diwali. The purchase from this brand by locals will support local and rural entrepreneurs and enhance their livelihoods, he said.
