PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Uttarakhand Vidyalaya Shiksha Parishad (UVSP) has decided to honour those teachers whose students achieve a 100 per cent score in the board examinations for Class X and Class XII. This initiative will be launched for the first time this year, UVSP sources said.

Informing this, the secretary of UVSP Vinod Simalti said that the students who received good marks in the Class X and Class XII board examinations under the UVSP board were usually honoured preciously. “However, this year, the board has chosen to also honour the teachers of the particular subjects in which students have attained a 100 per cent score,” he said, adding that UVSP had last week selected approximately 120 to 130 teachers across Uttarakhand to be honoured this month.

During the ceremony, these teachers will receive certificates and medals. The directions to inform the selected teachers will soon be sent to the chief education officers of each district, he informed.

Simalti further stated that this initiative will encourage and motivate teachers, which, in turn, will further improve the results of the UVSP board examinations each year.

Notably, on April 25, UVSP had declared the results of the Class X and Class XII board examinations. A total of 215,252 students were enrolled in the Class X and Class XII board examinations this year; among them, 112,266 students were in Class X, while 102,986 were registered for Class XII examinations. Additionally, 92.10 per cent of students cleared the Class X exams, and 85.11 per cent passed the Class XII exams. In class X, 28.20 per cent students secured the first division while in Class XII, 41.33 per cent of students received first division marks.
