A large number of people gathered in Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) on Tuesday to witness on telescopes the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter, considered a rare astronomical event. ARIES also hosted a demonstration of this astronomical event at Sainik School Ghorakhal.
An astronomer at ARIES, Virendra Yadav stated that the people also captured this astronomical event on their mobile phones. “The people who gathered were informed about Venus and Jupiter. Although these two planets are millions of kms apart from each other, they appear very close to each other when viewed from Earth moving in their orbits. This astronomical event is called conjunction. These two planets are the most beautiful planets in our solar system, which is why they hold people’s fascination,” he added.
