Vice Chief hopes for pre April status quo at LAC in Eastern Ladakh
The Vice Chief of Indian Army, Lieutenant General S K Saini has hoped that Indo China relations would be normalised soon asserting that pre April status quo is likely to be reinstated at the LAC in the eastern Ladakh.
Interacting with the media persons at the sidelines of the Passing out parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) here on Saturday, Lieutenant General S K Saini while admitting that despite many rounds of talks the standoff between India and China continues in eastern Ladakh but hoped an end to hostility asserting that both military and diplomatic parleys are going on between the two countries “Due to regular parleys, we hope for return of normalcy with maintaining of pre April status quo at the LAC in Eastern Ladakh”, he told reporters.
The vice chief’s statement assumes significance in the backdrop tense Indo China relations due to recent Galwan valley clash, where both sides suffered casualties.
He also asserted that if need be the armed forces of the country can go to any extent to defend the sovereignty of the country.
On Nepal, the Vice Chief said that India and Nepal have traditionally friendly relations and the Indian army has warriors of Nepali origin. He said that the chief of Indian army had recently visited Nepal and a message that nothing can come in between good relations of India and Nepal emanated out of this visit. Lt Gen Saini said that ceasefire violations are increasing at Line of Control and Indian army is giving a fitting reply to these misadventures.
