Weather alert- heavy rain likely in most districts today

Even as Uttarakhand is experiencing relief from heat with the advent of monsoon causing a drop in temperatures, the State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Nainital and Bageshwar districts on Friday. A yellow warning has been issued regarding heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in the State.

Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers likely to occur, which may be intense in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 31 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Light to moderate rain was reported in various places with 41.5 millimetres in Khanpur, 33 millimetres in Laksar, 21 millimetres in Roorkee, 19 millimetres in Thalisain, 15 millimetres in Champawat, 14 millimetres in Satpuli and 11.5 millimetres in Pithoragarh.
