Weather to change today, rain & snowfall forecast in mountains

Even as temperatures gradually rise in Dehradun and elsewhere in the State, the weather is likely to take a turn again with rain and snowfall likely in some mountain districts on Monday. The State Meteorological Centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of dense fog likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts of the State today.

The meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain / snowfall-at places situated at altitudes of 3,000 metres and above- is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Monday. The change in weather is expected to be caused by a western disturbance and likely to affect parts of the State during a three-day period starting on Monday. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 24 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively on Monday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Sunday were 25.4 degrees Celsius and 9.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 21 degrees Celsius and 8.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 19.1 degrees Celsius and 2.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 18.8 degrees Celsius and 3.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
