A woman entrepreneur from Dehradun has accused a group of around 100 to 150 people of illegally entering her restaurant, damaging property, threatening employees and forcibly taking control of the premises in the presence of the police. Priyanka Bhatt submitted a complaint to the Dehradun senior superintendent of police mentioning that an FIR had not been lodged about three months after the incident. The Rajpur police registered an FIR naming seven identified people along with Malsi councillor Sumendra Sushant after her complaint to the SSP.
According to Bhatt, owner of The House of Indulgence restaurant and café, the incident took place on February 19, 2026. She alleged that a large crowd entered the restaurant, damaged furniture, lights, signboards and other property, and forced employees to leave the premises. She also claimed that mobile phones of staff members were taken away and business materials were removed. Bhatt stated that she was at a hospital at the time of the incident and reached her restaurant after receiving calls from frightened employees. Upon reaching the spot, she allegedly found dozens of people inside the premises and extensive damage to the property.
In her complaint, Bhatt alleged that when she tried to record the incident on her mobile phone, some people attempted to snatch her phone and she suffered injuries during the confrontation. She further claimed that she was threatened in the presence of police personnel.
The complainant has also raised questions about the role of police officials present at the scene. She alleged that despite repeated requests, no effective action was taken to stop the crowd or prevent the removal of restaurant property. The Rajpur police officials said that an investigation has been started in the case.
