Actor Akshay Kumar has donated a sum of Rs 15 lakh for the medical treatment of Ayushi Sharma, the granddaughter of Roorkee based writer Yogendranath Sharma. Ayushi Sharma is doing her PhD from Rajasthan. About four months ago she had severe pain in her legs and then her legs went numb. After undergoing a medical examination at a hospital in Gurugram it was ascertained that her heart was working at about 25 per cent capacity. She was reportedly born with a defect in her heart. She has been advised to go for a heart transplant which is to be done in Chennai. According to the doctors, the estimated cost of the operation would be about Rs 50 lakh. Ayushi’s grandfather had sought help from the PM relief fund but was informed that the hospital in question was not in the Central government’s panel. The Sharma family managed to collect about Rs 30 lakh for the treatment but was unable to collect more. Meanwhile, noted director Chandraprakash Dwivedi, spoke to Akshay Kumar about the case. The actor gave a sum of Rs 15 lakh for the treatment. He is also reported to have assured the family that he will provide necessary assistance if more money is needed.
