Refrain from creating panic on Joshimath situation- CM Dhami
CM holds meetings with public representatives, stakeholders and members of relief package committee on second day of his Joshimath visit

On the second day of his stay in Joshimath, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met the local people, workers, officers and the concerned citizens on Thursday. He started the day by offering prayers at Narsingh temple in the morning.
In a meeting with the local public representatives and citizens, the CM said that everyone should work in coordination in this hour of crisis. He said that the priority of his government is to find a way forward while ensuring the safety of life and property of the affected families. Dhami said that a sum of Rs 1.50 lakh is being given as an instant assistance to the people whose residences and the shops were affected by the land subsidence in Joshimath. He again assured the families that this sum ( Rs 1.50 lakh) is only interim relief and the entire relief package. CM said that a committee has been set up for the relief package and best possible relief would be provided to the affected families. He said that some elements are creating an atmosphere of panic about Joshimath which is not true. The CM said that this tendency is proving detrimental for the State and the local economy is getting affected. He added that everyone should work in the direction of providing help to the affected people. The CM said that reasons for land subsidence in Joshimath are being investigated. He added that there the water seepage near JP company too has subsided.
The secretary to the CM, R Meenakshi Sundaram, district magistrate (DM) Himanshu Khurana, public representatives and others were present in the meeting.
Dhami also held a meeting with the members of the committee set up for deciding about the relief package and its transparent distribution in Joshimath on Thursday. He said that the market rate would be determined on the suggestions given by the members of the committee. The CM assured that best compensation would be provided to the affected stakeholders and added that whatever maximum it can give would be given by the State government. The CM said that efforts should be made to make the affected people mentally strong. He said that winter games are scheduled in Auli in February this year and the Char Dham Yatra too would start after some months and everyone should ensure that a negative message is not emanated about Joshimath so that the economy of the local people is not affected.
