In latest news from Uttarakhand, two women were killed as a rack stacked with materials fell on two women working in a mushroom factory in Jhabrera police station limit in Haridwar district. It is learnt that six women workers were buried under the rack. Immediately on being informed, police reached the factory. The police team with the help of the factory workers pulled the workers buried under the rack out and rushed them to the nearest hospital.
It is further learnt that there are huge iron racks where the mushrooms grow and these are placed at a height. As the workers were engaged in work in the evening, the rack suddenly broke and fell on them, burying six under the materials the rack was stacked with. Police informed that all the six injured women were rushed to hospital where doctors declared two of them as brought dead. The deceased were identified as the 42-year-old Amirita and 47-year-old Sudesh. The four injured were later referred to the civil hospital in Roorkee from where one of them was later referred to a higher centre, given her deteriorating condition.
The villagers living close to the factory staged demonstration, demanding action against those responsible for this incident. The Jhabrera police station in-charge Dharmendra Rathi said that they were pacified. “We assured them that after the investigation is over, appropriate actions will be taken against those to be found responsible for this incident,” he added.
