In latest Uttarakhand news, a Haridwar-based ascetic Swami Achyutanand Teerth has filed a police complaint against the Samajwadi Party leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Swami Prasad Maurya for the latter’s statement that the Badrinath shrine had been built on the relics of a Buddhist monastery which sparked a fierce row. While filing his complaint at the Kotwali police station in Haridwar, Swami Achyutanand said that the SP leader’s unwarranted comment had hurt the Hindu sentiments. The ascetic further said in his complaint that such statements might trigger violence.
