Three people died in Bageshwar on Tuesday afternoon after the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge. The accident occurred in the district’s Panpatiya area of Kapkot when the vehicle fell into a gorge about 100 metres deep, said the officials. They said that the local police informed the rescue teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to carry out a search operation in the area but by the time the teams reached, the three victims had reportedly died.
The team members retrieved the bodies from the deep gorge using ropes and brought them to the road and handed them over to local police. The three deceased have been identified as Balram (45), Mahendra Singh (40) and Sanjay Ram (35) who were residents of the Bageshwar district. The officials said that the bodies were sent for post mortem and if police find anything suspicious in the report, action will be taken accordingly. They said that the authorities will also check the vehicle to ascertain the cause of the accident.
