Significant reduction in forest fires this year: Uniyal

The forest minister Subodh Uniyal has said that there the incidences of forest fires have reduced to the one fourth this year as compared to past in the State. Interacting with the media persons at the State headquarters of BJP here on Wednesday the minister also claimed that the loss to human life in man animal conflict has also reduced by 61 per cent this year. He said that the focus of the forest department now is on employment generation through public participation.
The minister said that to reduce the cases of forest fire the department constituted forest management committees at the village level. The village Pradhans, Mahila Mangal Dal, Yuva Mangal Dal and employees of forest and revenue were included in this committee. Uniyal said that with the help of these committees the forest fire cases reduced by 50 per cent in the year 2021-22 and this year this got further reduced to 20 per cent. A sum of Rs 40,000 is being given by State government for these committees and better performing committees are rewarded with a sum of Rs one lakh.
