Ruling party MLAs acting like commission agents: Khanduri

Sunday, 15 October 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Congress party leader Manish Khanduri has said that MLAs of the ruling party in the State lack vision and most of them are behaving as commission agents. Interacting with the media persons at the Congress Bhawan here on Saturday Khanduri who had unsuccessfully contested from the Garhwal Lok Sabha seat in the year 2019, said that an atmosphere of despair and anger has gripped the people as the much touted double-engine  government has failed miserably on all fronts in the State.

Claiming that he is in regular touch with the people in the Garhwal constituency, Khanduri said that both the Union and State governments have failed to meet the aspirations of the people of the constituency. He said that the district hospital in Pauri was handed over to a private hospital on PPP mode but the experiment has failed to make any improvement in the health services. He said that the Devprayag- Pauri road and other roads are in bad condition while the collapsed bridge in Kotdwar is yet to be repaired.

There is anger in the people in the areas such as Chopta after the anti- encroachment drive. He added that the mystery of missing gold in Kedarnath is yet to be solved and the human-animal conflict is at its extreme in the mountainous areas. The government failed to control the spread of dengue in Kotdwar and Srinagar and justice still eludes the family of Ankita Bhandari. He added that the elected leadership has no vision of the development of the area. Khanduri said that despite giving many chief ministers and important personalities, Pauri has remained neglected and is lagging in development.

Khanduri said that the Congress party is taking feedback and suggestions for the cadre and is working to make its organisation strong in the area. He accepted that the party faces a daunting task in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Garhwal constituency but exuded confidence that the party will register a victory in the constituency like it did in the year 1996 and 2009.
