Tunnel construction completed 2 months before deadline

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the work of connecting the Rishikesh-Badrinath and Rudraprayag-Gaurikund stretches through a 910-metre-long tunnel under the all-weather road project has been completed two months before the deadline. This is what is claimed by the executing company. The executing company officials said that 150 workers had worked in two shifts and with the first phase of the work being completed, the second phase of the work inside the tunnel is all set to begin soon. They further informed that the work of digging the tunnel had started with the bhumi puja in December 2022 and in March this year, the work of tunnel-digging from Belni to Jagtola was taken up.
According to the National Highway Authority of India officials, along with the construction of this tunnel, a 200 m long motor bridge is set to be built on Alakananda river and work of digging tunnel for it has now been going on in full swing. It is expected that the work would be completed by June 2025.
