Former MLA and senior Congress leader Shailendra Rawat, a number of public representatives and office bearers of various parties from different districts joined the Bharatiya Janata Party here on Sunday. The party has claimed that more than 2,500 political workers joined the party in the programme held at the BJP State headquarters.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt congratulated all those who had joined the party and exhorted them to get started on the party’s mission. Bhatt said that as the patron of the party, he will take care of their honour and sentiments. He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership the nation is achieving new heights in development while Uttarakhand is progressing swiftly under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s leadership.

“The nation’s global standing is at the top while Uttarakhand is emerging as a swiftly developing State. All of you have to fully cooperate in the mission to make Uttarakhand the best State by 2025 and India a developed nation by 2047. All of us together have to achieve a record victory in the coming Lok Sabha elections and further strengthen Narendra Modi. At present, the political scenario in Uttarakhand is like it is across the nation- it is coloured in saffron. This is the reason why there is a consistent rise in the number of people wanting to join the BJP. A week later, the party will organise an even bigger programme in which a large number will join the BJP,” Bhatt added.

Speaking as the CM’s representative, cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi said that Lord Ram and Narendra Modi dominating the national discourse and the large number of people joining the BJP is enough to make one certain that the BJP will form its government at the Centre with more than 400 seats. The party will win all the five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand by a margin double than the previous margin based on the works done by chief minister Dhami, he said. Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal said that the BJP is not a party of nepotism but works with the sense of a family.
