Rain and snowfall likely in mountain districts today

The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/ thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts today. Further, very light to light snowfall is likely at places situated at altitudes of 3,000 metres and above in these districts. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of ground frost likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous areas of the State. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State on Saturday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a mainly clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 23 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures dipped a few notches below normal in Dehradun and other parts of the State on Friday. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Friday were 23.8 degrees Celsius and 6.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 25.3 degrees Celsius and 4.9 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 11.4 degrees Celsius and -0.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 13 degrees Celsius and 0.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.

The minimum temperature in Dehradun and Pantnagar was three degrees below normal while both the maximum and minimum temperatures were four degrees below normal in Mukteshwar. The maximum temperature was five degrees below normal while the minimum was six degrees below normal in New Tehri.
