355 Indian, 39 foreign gentlemen cadets pass out from IMA

A total of 394 young officers passed out of portals of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) after the passing out parade (PoP) in Dehradun on Saturday. The passing out contingent belonged to 154 Regular Course and 137 Technical Graduate Course of IMA.
The contingent included 39 Gentleman Cadets from 10 friendly foreign countries. The parade marched to the tunes of ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’ and ‘Sare Jahan Se Acha’.
The General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC -in-C) of Northern Command, lieutenant general MV Suchindra Kumar was the chief guest and reviewing officer of the PoP.
Kumar complimented the parade commander and participants along with the instructors and staff at IMA for the drill and standard of training at the academy.
The chief guest presented the prestigious sword of honour and gold medal for standing first in order of merit to Praveen Singh.
The silver medal for standing second in overall merit in regular course was handed over to Mohit Kapri while the bronze medal for GC standing third in order of merit from the regular course was presented to Shaurya Bhatt. In the Technical Graduate Course, Vinay Bhandari was presented the silver medal for standing first in overall merit. Mohammad Nur Kutubul Alam was awarded the Bangladesh medal for being the best Foreign Gentlemen Cadet (FGC). The Chief of Army Staff banner was handed over to the Kohima Company for standing first among 12 companies of the academy in the Spring term- 2024.
After reviewing the parade, the RO offered floral tributes to the brave alumni of IMA in the wreath laying ceremony held at the War Memorial of the academy. The chief guest exhorted the passing out contingent to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation. He said, “You are just a step away from the historic and magnificent moment of your commissioning into the most elite forces.”
After the PoP, the contingent headed to the Somnath stadium for the pipping ceremony where the parents put epaulets of officers on the shoulders of the young officers. After this ceremony the young officers took oath to serve the nation. These newly commissioned lieutenants will now join their respective units all across the country.
