BJP cheated people of Garhwal by depriving Baluni of cabinet berth: Mahara

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the BJP has cheated the simple people of Garhwal by not including Anil Baluni in the cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a meeting of workers of Congress party in Joshimath on Tuesday, the PCC president said that in the election campaign of Lok Sabha polls, the senior leaders of BJP had promised that Baluni, if elected, will be made a minister but the promise was not fulfilled.
He said that the BJP has a habit of making false promises. Mahara said that the Badrinath by- election is crucial for the people of Badrinath.
The PCC president said that thousands of people got affected by the land subsidence in Joshimath but the central government neither gave them proper compensation nor rehabilitated them. The people of Joshimath raised their voice at various forums but the State government paid no heed to their plea.
He said that the president of Uttarakhand BJP Mahendra Bhatt had given a statement that connections of Joshimath agitation are with Maoists. Mahara said that Bhatt should provide proof of the allegation levelled by him.
He appealed that the people of Joshimath should remember the protest they had done for their rights and the apathy of the BJP government and support Congress in the by- election.
The PCC president said that the State government has failed to nab the culprits involved in murder of Ankita Bhandari. He said that the BJP government is continuing to cheat the youngsters of the State and they should pose a united fight for their rights.
The president of the district Congress committee Mukesh Negi, Mahendra Singh Negi, Lakhpat Butola, Prakash Rawat, Kamal Raturi and others attended the meeting.
