U’khand progressing in water conservation & spring rejuvenation: CS

In latest news from Dehradun, the State chief secretary Radha Raturi asked for prompt nod to the works concerning rejuvenation of water sources in the forest areas while participating in a video conference under the Central government’s Jal Shakti Abhiyan–Catch the Rain. She mentioned that subtantial State-level work is being done to conserve water and rejuvenate springs and streams under the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARRA).
She further informed that the critically drying up springs, tributaries and streams across the State have been identified. The meeting was also informed that the Pey Jal department has identified 78 critically drying up water sources while Jal Sansthan has marked 415 such water sources. Furthermore, a total of 215 tributaries and streams have been identified across the State for rejuvenation.
The State government has also proposed installation of water shafts or borewell on government offices, educational institutions, hotels and dharamsalas among others to conserve water.
