The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has demanded Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the recent gang rape and murder case of a minor girl belonging to Dalit community in Bahadarabad of Haridwar district.

Addressing a Press conference at the headquarters of the State Congress on Friday, the PCC president said that involvement of BJP leaders in all the cases of crime and exploitation of women in the State in the last seven years exposes the anti women face of the ruling party. He said that in the recent rape and murder case of a minor girl in Haridwar district, BJP leader Aditya Raj Saini is one of the accused. Mahara said that the heinous crime has refreshed the memories of the Ankita Bhandari murder case and again highlighted involvement of BJP leaders in the crime against women.

He said that the report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) shows that Uttarakhand leads the Himalayan States in crime against women.

Mahara said that the Ankita Bhandari murder, Pinki murder case, rape of a minor in Champawat, gang rape in Bhadarabad, attempted rape case in Srinagar and rape of a Dalit girl in Dwarahat have shamed the humanity and defamed Uttarakhand.

He said that the criminals would not have dared to rape and murder the minor Dalit girl in Haridwar had the BJP government taken strict action in the Ankita Bhandari murder case and not shielded the murderers.

The PCC president said that the manner in which the cases of rape, murder, loot and crime against women have increased in the State in last seven years of BJP rule, the women are feeling unsafe in the State. Unfortunately the BJP government and police are shielding criminals, he added.
