30 lakh pilgrims visit Char Dham in 50 days

Monday, 01 July 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

About 30 lakh people have visited the Char Dham temple so far in about 50 days since the start of the pilgrimage this year. According to officials, last year this number was reached in more than two months after the start of the pilgrimage.

Officials claim that efforts of the government to ensure a convenient, safe and smooth pilgrimage are achieving results. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had started conducting meetings and site inspections since January this year to ensure the smooth conduct of the Char Dham Yatra. He had directed the officials to take the pilgrimage very seriously.  The reopening of the Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri on May 10 and Badrinath on May 12 saw a record number of pilgrims visiting these temples since the initial days. Considering the challenges posed by the rush of pilgrims in the initial days, Dhami put aside campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls and focused on management of the pilgrimage.

According to officials, from May 10 to June 30, about 30 lakh people have visited the Char Dham. Last year the Char Dham had reopened on April 22 and till June 30 about 30 lakh people had visited the temples.
