CM Dhami launches Mukhyamantri Namak Poshan Yojana

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the Mukhyamantri Namak Poshan Yojana here on Saturday. He distributed iodized salt to the beneficiaries of the scheme on the occasion. Under the scheme, about 14 lakh ration card holders of Antyodaya and Primary Family Scheme (PFS) will be provided iodized salt at the rate of Rs eight per kilogramme per month.
Addressing the gathering, the CM said that the double-engine government is constantly working to make the life of every poor of the State and the person standing last on the social ladder better. He said that free ration is being distributed to the poor under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana and will continue for next five years. Under the scheme, 14 lakh families of Uttarakhand are getting free ration every month. Dhami said that the State government is committed to providing pure, better and nutritious ration to the people. He added that some people were misleading the common people by calling fortified rice distributed in PDS as plastic rice. Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi many welfare schemes for the poor have been launched. Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, treatment up to Rs five lakh is being provided free of cost and under the Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan, toilets have been built in every house. He listed Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana and Lakhpati Didi Yojana for women empowerment as other welfare schemes of the government. Dhami said that due to these welfare schemes about 25 crore people have come out of poverty in the last 10 years in the country. He claimed that more than nine lakh people have come out of poverty in the last five years.
The CM informed that the mountainous districts have performed better in the implementation of poverty alleviation programmes. He further said that he has closely seen the struggle of the poor while living in the village and added that the government is committed to the development of the State and welfare of the poor.
Speaking on the occasion, cabinet minister Rekha Arya said that Mukhyamantri Namak Poshan Yojana is an effort to fulfill the needs of poor families. She said that PM Modi implemented Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana to address the problem of the poor.
