Civil administration- military coordination necessary for national security: Governor

Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has said that better coordination between the civil administration and the armed forces is essential to strengthen national security and to effectively meet future challenges. He added that solidarity and synergy are our greatest strengths, which need to be strengthened at every level. The governor was addressing the valedictory ceremony of the 32ndJoint Civil-Military Training Programme held at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie on Friday. He said that civil-military coordination is an impenetrable shield of national power. “When the courage of a soldier and the strategic ability of an administrator come together, it gives a new direction to the nation’s security and progress,’’ he said. Congratulating all the officers who completed the training, the governor said that civil-military coordination has become even more relevant in the 21st century. He said that building a secure and stable nation is essential to achieving the goal of ‘ Viksit Bharat 2047’.
The Governor said that India is moving towards self-reliance and indigenization is being promoted in the defence sector. India is no longer merely a reactive nation, but is becoming a global leader.
The Governor called upon the officers to make coordination, communication and contact a part of their working style and said that the mutual relations formed during the training will play an important role in the future.
Eighty-two senior officers from 31 different services and institutions across the country, including 14 women officers, participated in the 12-day training programme.
Academy director Sriram Taranikanti, joint director Shanmukh Priya Mishra, course coordinator D Mahesh, and officers from various services were present on the occasion.
