Raturi asks officials to enhance road network for 38th National Games

The chief secretary Radha Raturi directed the officials to enhance the road network around the designated venues and stadiums for the 38th National Games, which are scheduled to be organised this year in Uttarakhand. This directive was given during a high-powered committee meeting held on Thursday for the National Games. Raturi instructed the officials to strengthen the road network around the designated venues, stadiums and sports complexes in Dehradun, Haldwani, Rudrapur, Haridwar, Tehri and Pithoragarh in regards to National games. As a part of this plan, she specified that the chief engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) should be appointed as the nodal officer for this task.

Raturi also emphasised the need to organise special training camps for the players from Uttarakhand who will be participating in the National Games. Additionally, she instructed the officials to study and follow the example set by Gujarat and Kerala in organising national games. Further, she emphasised the need for proper arrangements for security and maintenance of law and order during the organisation of the National Games, including the preparation of cultural programmes, the nomination of nodal officers for publicity and public awareness regarding the National Games. She also discussed the development and renovation of infrastructure works for the ice rink, international cricket stadium, tennis court and horse riding grounds for the proposed National Games. Additionally, Raturi further directed officials to establish a sports project management unit in the successful organisation of the 38th National Games, as well as to design and develop an integrated sports portal and app to manage the games effectively.
