In latest news from Doon, the Vigilance department arrested a senior officer of the health directorate after the latter was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 6,000. The Vigilance sleuths of the Dehradun sector laid a trap after a complaint was filed by a person saying that the accused had asked him to shell out Rs 8,500 as bribery for clearing medical reimbursement. The complainant said he had already given the officer Rs 2,500.
Vigilance said that this is the third case in a fortnight when government employees were trapped while taking bribes, adding that in the past nine months, 32 government employees/officers have been sent to jail on bribery charges.
