The start of the new train is one of the various developments being facilitated in the Lalkuan junction railway station.

According to officials, this railway station has been connected to the Amrit Bharat Station scheme aimed at enhancing the modernising railway stations across the nation. Upgradation and expansion of modern facilities is being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 29.78 crore in the Lalkuan railway station. About 39 trains pass daily through the five platforms at Lalkuan junction. As part of the enhancement measures, a low wall and fencing have been erected along the road in the station’s circulating compound. A modern parking facility has also been established on a vacant space near the road. Apart from this, a green patch is being developed between the portico and the road along with landscaping and enhancement of the entry and exit gates.

As part of works in the second phase, a six-metre pedestrian overbridge is under construction near the parking area. Officials informed that work on granite flooring and improvement and the station’s façade has been completed. Drainage work in the circulating area of the station has also been completed while more stainless steel benches have been placed in the booking hall in addition to installation of false ceiling in the booking hall and waiting room. In addition to these works, the façade lighting is being improved with LED street light poles and LED signage. A mini-mast light will also be installed to provide floodlights for enhancing illumination of the station compound. Apart from this, solar power panels will be set up on the roof of the railway station building.

Other improvements planned here include installation of a five-line train display board at the entry gate, 43-inch LED television in the waiting rooms, 65-inch LED digital signage board for train display board and PRS/UTS hall, single-line train display boards for all the five platforms, coach display guidance system and GPS clocks. CCTV cameras will also be installed at the entry and exit gates, the officials added. The completion of these works is expected to modernise the Lalkuan railway station and enhance the convenience of passengers along with safety measures.
