Govt fixes responsibility of 108 emergency ambulance service

Taking lessons from the Marchula bus accident, the State government has decided to fix responsibility of the 108 emergency ambulance service, the government medical colleges and the hospitals.
The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat presided over a meeting of the officers of the health department at his residence on Monday. In the meeting the minister directed the officers to fix responsibility of 108 service. He directed that a concrete guideline should be prepared for the emergency ambulance service and said that response time of the service should be fixed.
Rawat said that the response time of the 108 ambulance service should be 20 to 25 minutes in mountainous areas and 12 to 15 minutes in plains. He ordered that a three time penalty should be imposed on the service in the cases of delayed response time. The minister said that the 108 service should transport serious patients to the referred hospitals directly.
On a stern note the minister also directed the officers to ensure that best treatments are provided to the patients in the district and medical college hospitals.
Secretary health R Rajesh Kumar, additional secretary Anand Srivastava , Anuradha Pal, Namami Bansal, director medical education Dr Ashutosh Sayana and others attended the meeting.
