Patanjali Research Institute hosts seminar on Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha awareness campaign, sponsored by National Medicinal Plants Board, Union Ministry of AYUSH and State Medicinal Plants Board, Dehradun, was organised by Patanjali Research Institute, Haridwar in collaboration with Patanjali Ayurveda College and Hospital, Haridwar. Addressing the seminar, yoga guru Swami Ramdev spoke on the medicinal importance of Ashwagandha with stress on the application of agricultural technology and value addition of Ashwagandha. He further said that following the footsteps of the ancient sages, PRI has done a lot of research on this immensely beneficial medicinal plant, adding that many Ashwagandha- based research papers of Patanjali have been prominently published in the eminent international research journals, including Biomolecules. The chief executive officer, National Medicinal Plants Board, New Delhi, Prof Mahesh Kumar Dadhich dwelt on the objectives of the seminar and the cultivation of Ashwagandha. The chief executive officer, Uttarakhand State Medicinal Plants Board Nirpendra Chauhan discussed various government projects in Uttarakhand related to Ashwagandha.
About 200 farmers and over 400 scholars registered for the seminar. Ashwagandha plants along with booklets were distributed free of cost among the participants.
