Folk dialect training delayed due to low registrations & venue issue

The delay in the start of the folk dialect training workshop at the Himalayan Cultural Centre (HCC) is primarily due to a lack of student registrations and the busy schedules of the selected venue. Notably, in 2023, the Culture department decided to organise this workshop to promote and teach the Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari languages at the HCC. However, despite the order being issued more than a year ago, the department has not yet been able to organise the workshop.
Informing about this, the director of the department, Beena Bhatt expressed concern over this delay. She said that several factors have contributed to the difficulties in organising the workshops. When the order for the training workshop was issued, candidates were required to fill out a registration form. However, the low number of student registrations has prevented the department from moving forward. Additionally, the busy schedules of everyone, particularly parents, have made it difficult for children to find the time to participate and learn these regional dialects. The busy schedule, which includes events, elections and other activities at HCC, is another reason for the workshop being delayed. However, the long-standing delay for the dialect training workshop will soon be over, as the department plans to hold classes for candidates during the summer vacation this year. During this time, parents will be free and can send their children to participate in such activities, she said.
It will be recalled that the Culture department intended to organise a folk dialect training workshop at HCC in 2023 to raise awareness about the regional languages. People of any age can enroll for the training. The workshop is slated to be conducted every Saturday and Sunday from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, focusing on teaching the Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari languages. Additionally, experienced teachers in these regional languages would be hired to lead the instruction at HCC.
