Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrated with religious fervour in U’khand

Guru Nanak Jayanti was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm especially among the Sikh community across the State on Wednesday. Many devotees in Dehradun visited Gurudwaras to offer prayers for their families and friends. In light of this celebration, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid homage at Gurdwara Shri Gurusingh Sabha in Racecourse. He extended his greetings to the people of the State, particularly to the Sikh community.

CM said that Guru Nanak Dev, through his teachings and sermons, inspired people to eradicate social evils. His life serves as a guiding light for promoting brotherhood, harmony and unity in society.

Many other devotees were also seen celebrating the occasion. A resident, Gurdeep Kohli, shared that he first visited the Gurudwara on Guru Nanak Jayanti to offer prayers for his family and friends. Additionally, he distributed prasad at the Gurudwara to fellow devotees. To make the occasion more memorable, he lit candles at night at his residence, alongside the celebrations at the Gurudwara.

Another resident, Hargun Kaur, expressed her excitement about the celebration. She said that she began her observance by visiting the Gurudwara and enjoying Langar Prasad. Every year, to make this occasion special, she and her family also celebrate with firecrackers, candles and other festivities. Many other residents were observed celebrating Guru Nanak Jayanti. Additionally, several Gurudwaras in Dehradun were adorned with lights, flowers and decorations for the occasion.
