The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Tuesday took action against encroachment in different parts of the city, including Banjarawala and Indira Colony.
Officials informed that in Banjarawala, some individuals were attempting to encroach upon municipal land and a road in front of Kalika Mandir. The municipal commissioner Namami Bansal personally visited the site to inspect the situation. Acting on the spot, the MCD used a JCB machine to clear the encroached portion of the land and restore access to the road.
In Indira Colony, the local councillor and residents informed authorities that a municipal toilet earlier existed near the Indira Colony bridge was allegedly occupied and turned into a meat shop. Taking serious note of the complaint, Bansal inspected the site and directed the officials concerned to investigate the matter and submit a report at the earliest.
MCD officials said that if encroachment is found at the site, immediate action will be taken as per municipal rules. The corporation reiterated that it will continue monitoring public land and take strict action against illegal occupation to ensure public spaces remain free from encroachment.
