The additional director general of police (Crime and Law and Order) V Murugesan reviewed the progress of investigations involving the wanted criminals while discussing law and order with senior  police officers in Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts in Haldwani on Tuesday.  He also stressed that the pending cases should be resolved at the earliest.

He further directed the police officers of the two districts to conduct regular inspection of police stations. He also issued instructions to update data on various portals, including e-Evidence and NATGrid.

Expressing displeasure over surging crimes against women, the ADG said that investigations are not being completed within the mandatory 60-day period in most cases which, he termed, a serious lapse. He directed such cases be resolved expeditiously. Taking a tough stance against drug trafficking, he directed police officers of these two districts to arrest the drug trafficking kingpins under the stringent Gangster Act and confiscate their properties promptly. Furthermore, he laid stress on recovering all missing persons, particularly the abducted minors, through full-scale use of state of the art technology.

Among those present at the meeting were SSP Nainital, Manjunath T C and SSP, Udham Singh Nagar, Ajay Ganpati.
