PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
Congress leader and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has said that the murder of brigadier (retd) Mukesh Joshi in Dehradun when he was out for morning walk shows that the law and order situation has been shattered in Uttarakhand. Gandhi wrote on social media platforms on Tuesday that the people who had dedicated their lives for protecting the nation on the border are not safe in their own city. The general public and many communities are forced to live in an atmosphere of fear. Gandhi said that only criminals are safe under BJP rule. He added that Uttarakhand, once known for peace and security has now come under a cloud of murders, violence and fear under the irresponsible rule of BJP.
The leader of opposition in Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya also criticised the State government for ever deteriorating law and order condition in the State. Terming the murder of Joshi a blot on the law and order situation in the State, Arya said things have become so bad in Uttarakhand that even the respected citizens are not safe. He said that the morale of criminals is high in the State while the administration has failed completely. Arya warned that if the State government fails to come out of slumber, the Congress party will launch a state-wide agitation.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said that the murder of the army veteran has exposed the law and order situation. He said that the Rajpur area has become a centre of illegal nightlife and Dehradun has become a haven for criminals.
