PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Nainital
Patients at the Government B D Pandey District Hospital in Nainital have been facing difficulties due to the acute technician crunch. Of the three sanctioned posts, only two technicians are currently working. Notably, three posts of X-ray technician are sanctioned in the district hospital. One post is lying vacant for a long time. But in these days one technician is on the Char Dham pilgrimage duty and the other technician is on leave. Due to this the X-ray services in the hospital are getting affected. The patients have to wait for hours due to the late arrival of technicians who are called from other hospitals. “We along with our attendants have to wait for a long time for the tests. The elderly and the serious patients face more difficulties due to this,” said a patient who had come for tests.
Queried over the inconvenience of the patients, the chief medical superintendent of the district hospital, Dr Tarun Kumar Tamta stated that things are currently being managed by bringing in technicians from other hospitals. “We have contacted the government to fill the vacant post. A permanent solution will be found soon,” he added.
